i forgot where i first saw this nifty little rule. but it’s become grocery cart canon in my eyes! basically if you’re trying to be a health-conscious shopper, then make sure to buy foods that fit the guidelines below:
for every 100 calories in a food item, make sure there are no more than 2 grams of fat, and at least 3 grams of fiber.
…so it’s more like the 100, 2, 3 rule, but that oooobviously does NOT have the same linguistic punch. um. but yeah. this is extrememly helpful, and easily weeds out bad foods, and bad foods disguised as good foods. i’m a little more lax on the fiber, like for instance, as long as it fits the fat criterion, and has 1 gram of fiber for every 100 calories, i still buy it (if i need it). too much fiber is hell on my bowels, plus i have my fiber one bars :)

i feel bad because i’m not even that active anymore (this week has been hellish) so now that i see more people are following me, i will try!
i went home this weekend. which i LOVE. but i don’t love being bombarded with my favorite comfort foods -___- i feel bad for telling my mom no. because she made my favorite foods!! and she’s my mommy. and then my friend’s parents thanked me for giving him a ride to and from school with a plate of cookies. and then of course we had to celebrate arriving to columbus safely with some cane’s chicken fingers. so…this weekend was not my healthiest moment.
but i’m back on track. i love being on my own because i control what foods come into the house. and last night when i was craving oreo’s and other saturated fat landmines, i looked in my kitchen and was dismayed to find ONLY HEALTHY FOOD. so i settled for pepitos (baked tostito’s scoops with a dollop of veggie smart pasta sauce and a sprinkle of skim parmesan cheese).
that’s the trick. if you’re like me, aka a binge’s dream come true, then you have to attack the problem at the root, and that’s by not allowing bad foods into your kitchen. when you’re surrounded by healthy food, you’ll only eat healthy food. sure, you can go out every now and then. and you will fall off track occasionally - hell, look at my weekend! but i’m not beating myself up about it, because i got right back on track once i got back to school.
detours are inevitable. so don’t be discouraged. it happens.

life is good. i’m dropping the weight without really trying. all i did was change my diet and walk a lot more and the pounds are sliding off! i weighed myself this morning and i weighed in at 151.5! and i’m on my period so i’ve bloated a little from water weight! i’ll be at my next goal in no time :) keep fighting <3

wow! great week! i’m sorry i haven’t been on as much. i’m still getting used to my new routine but i’ll be more active soon hopefully. :/
ok sooo:
1) my friends are beginning to comment that i’m losing weight…so i know it’s happening!
2) i’ve switched to a loose vegetarian diet. that means that i eat chicken occasionally, but mainly i focus on fruits, whole grains, veggies, protein (like egg whites), chobani yogurt, and SEAFOOD. yummy.
3) haven’t been exercising as much lately :/ but i walk everywhere. i walk at least a half hour everyday, so that’s a little like exercise. i’m hoping to get to the RPAC (that’s what osu’s gym thing is called) soon and start a routine there five days a week.
4) jeans are becoming ever so looser. and i can pull up my leather skirt with little to no effort. which was certainly not the case a few weeks ago!
5) i’ve been so good at keeping only good things in my fridge at my apartment. if i’m not surrounded by bad foods, i won’t be tempted to eat them. even my roomie commented on how super healthy i eat, which i take as a compliment. :)
6) but that’s not to say i don’t cheat every now and then! cheat days are important; they keep your metabolism guessing and working harder to break down the different foods rather than it getting comfy with all the healthy food you eat most the time.

last week was rough :/ in between pounding brews and late night t-bell runs, i fell off the wagon momentarily. but now i’m back. eating great and working out great and walking EVERYWHERE! even my roomie commented today how i eat super healthy! i’ll get there :)
